Extending Leasehold Land

Do you hold leasehold land and want to add a small extension to your original parcel? You can submit a request.

What does this product or service mean?

What should you pay attention to?

The Directorate of Spatial Planning and Development (R&O) may request additional information, such as a Land Registry extract and a site plan.

In some cases, the Directorate may grant an extension to the original parcel. The extension may not be the same size as or larger than the original parcel.

An extension is usually a strip of land and is often unsuitable for development as a separate building plot.

When can you apply for this?

You may apply if there is an unused piece of land next to your leasehold parcel or if you need additional public land adjoining your existing leasehold parcel.

How do you apply for this?

Follow these steps:

  1. Submit a written request to the Directorate of Spatial Planning and Development (R&O).
  2. Include your leasehold details, parcel information and contact details.
  3. If available, attach a Land Registry extract and a site plan.
  4. The Directorate will tell you what steps follow.

Who can you contact?

Directorate R&O desk.
You can also send an email to directie_ro@bonairegov.com (general).

How long does it take?

This depends on the assessment and current workload.
