Moving on Bonaire

Are you moving? If so, you must report this to the Civil Affairs Department. You have up to 5 days after the move to do so.

You must report your move to the Civil Affairs Department.

When you report a change of address, you provide your new address. The Civil Affairs Department will then update the population registry.

When can you apply for this?

The requirements for reporting a change of address include:

  • You are 16 years of age or older.
  • You must have the resident’s permission if you are moving in with someone.

The change of address must be reported by:

  • yourself
  • a parent, guardian, or caregiver
  • spouses or registered partners living together, on behalf of each other (if they are moving to the new address together)
  • parents and adult children (18+) living together, on behalf of each other (if they are moving to the new address together)
  • a legal representative
  • an adult with written consent
  • the head of a healthcare facility on behalf of a person residing in that facility who, due to their health condition, cannot be deemed capable of fulfilling their obligations or granting authorization to do so, or the spouse, registered partner, or blood relative or relative by marriage up to the second degree of such a person, upon presentation of a written statement from the head of the relevant facility.

  • Make an appointment online.
  • Bring a valid form of identification.

• Fill out the “Notify Us of a Change of Address” form and email it to burgerzaken@bonairegov.com along with:

• A copy of a valid form of identification (passport or sedula)

The BES Personal Data Protection Act specifies how the Public Entity of Bonaire must do this.

The most important rules are:

  • The Public Entity of Bonaire only requests data necessary to process your request or report.
  • They record and process your data securely, confidentially, and with care.
  • Your data will only be used for the application or report, or for something directly related to it.
  • Your data will not be retained longer than necessary for the application or report.
  • Other organizations will only receive your data if required by law.
  • You may ask how your data is being used and what happens to it.
