On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the first public transportation bus arrived on the island. The Public Entity of Bonaire (OLB) is preparing to launch the bus service so that residents can soon use public transportation.
The arrival of the bus marks an important development for Bonaire. Four more buses are expected in early 2027. Until then, the first bus will operate on a temporary route. As soon as the remaining buses are available, the transit network will be expanded with a new route structure. The OLB is collaborating with Autobusbedrijf Curaçao (ABC) on this initiative.
Executive member Dennis Martinus is pleased with the arrival of the first bus: “We are incredibly happy that the first bus has arrived on Bonaire. Many residents have been waiting for this for years. It’s wonderful to see that public transportation is now becoming a reality. It’s an important service for our community.”
The bus service is intended for everyone. More information will follow in the coming period regarding the launch date, routes, stops, departure times, operating days, and other details about the bus service.
