Driver's License Office

The Driver’s License Office administers the written and practical exams for driver’s licenses. Payment for exam packages and driver’s licenses (fees) is made at the Civil Affairs Department. The Driver’s License Office is also responsible for other administrative tasks related to driver’s licenses, such as issuing extracts and conducting driver’s license checks.

The primary purpose of the Driver’s License Office is to assess whether a driver is both physically and mentally fit to safely operate a vehicle on public roads.

Theory Exam

Eligibility for theory exams:

  • Age 18 and older for categories A/B/BE

Practical Exam

To take the practical exam, you must first pass your theory exam.

To do so, you must:

  • Register at the counter of the Driver’s License Office with a valid sedula.
  • Submit a medical certificate that is no older than 2 months.

Have a motor vehicle that meets the following requirements:

  • An additional mirror, service brake, and clutch for vehicles with a manual transmission;
  • An additional mirror and brake for vehicles with an automatic transmission.

The above requirements are necessary so that the examiner can intervene to ensure safety during the test. For more information, please contact a driving school or the Driver’s License Office.

After you pass the test, you can make an appointment with the Civil Affairs Department to have your driver’s license issued.

Supplementary Theory Exam

If you have passed the written exam for a motorcycle and a passenger car, and you wish to use the validity of your written exam to take the practical exam for a heavy vehicle category such as C, D, E, CE, or DE, you must pass an additional test consisting of 10 general questions before taking the practical exam.
