Grant Application for Activities

Would you like to organize an activity that contributes to society on Bonaire? If so, you may be eligible to apply for a grant from the Public Entity of Bonaire (OLB).
The Grant Office of the Society & Care Department processes all grant applications. The office reviews the applications, guides the process, and ensures a fair and thorough evaluation.

What does this product or service mean?

What should you pay attention to?
  • Submit your grant application no later than April 1.
  • Make sure all required documents are included.
  • If your application is incomplete, you will be given one opportunity to complete it within 14 days.

The OLB Grant Office is responsible for processing grant applications.

The office:

  • receives and registers grant applications
  • checks whether the application is complete
  • assesses whether the application complies with the grant rules
  • monitors the deadlines of the grant process
  • ensures proper administration of the grant

The Grants Office coordinates the process from the application through to the final approval of the grant.
The office is also the first point of contact for questions about the grant procedure, accountability, and the approval of grants.

When can you apply for this?

You may apply for a grant if:

  • you are an organization, or in some cases an individual (natural person)
  • your activities contribute to social objectives on Bonaire
  • the activities align with the policy of the Society & Care Department

In addition, the application must:

  • be submitted on time
  • be complete
  • comply with the rules set forth in the applicable grant regulation

How do you apply for this?

To apply for a grant, follow these steps:

 1. Submitting the Application
You must submit your grant application no later than April 1.
Include all required documents, such as an activity plan and budget.
 2. Formal Review
 3. Substantive Review
A policy advisor will assess whether the activities align with the policies and objectives of the Society & Care Department.
 4. Decision
You will be notified by July 1 at the latest whether the grant has been provisionally approved or rejected.
 5. Care Contract
If the grant is provisionally approved, the terms will be set out in a care contract.
This contract must be signed no later than December 31 of the year preceding the grant year.
 6. Accountability
Upon completion of the activities, you must demonstrate how the funds were spent.
To do so, you must submit a substantive report and a financial statement.
 7. Final Approval
After reviewing the accountability report, the OLB will grant final approval of the grant.

Gathering Documents

Before you can submit a grant application, you will need the following documents:

  1. Certificate of registration from the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) issued within the last 6 months
  2. Articles of incorporation of the foundation
  3. Budget for the upcoming calendar year
  4. Work program/activity plan for the upcoming calendar year
  5. Overview of staffing, including the number of volunteers
  6. Annual report for the past year
  7. Financial report for the past year

The Grant Office checks:

  • whether the application was submitted on time
  • whether all documents are complete

Is the application incomplete?
In that case, you will be given a one-time 14-day period to complete the application.

If so, you may file an objection in accordance with the procedures of the Public Entity of Bonaire.

What do we do with your personal data?

When you submit an application or report, the Public Entity of Bonaire needs your personal data. The Public Entity of Bonaire handles your data with care.

The BES Personal Data Protection Act specifies how the Public Entity of Bonaire must do this.

The most important rules are:

  • The Public Entity of Bonaire only requests data that is necessary for processing your application or report.
  • They record and process your data securely, confidentially, and with care
  • Your data will only be used for the application or report, or for something directly related to it.
  • Your data will not be retained longer than necessary for the application or report.
  • Other organizations will only receive your data if required by law.
  • You may ask how your data is being used and what happens to it.
