The energy allowance is a one-time payment of $1,300 for residents of Bonaire who are having trouble paying their electricity bills.
What does this product or service mean?
The credit will not be deposited into your bank account, but will be added as a credit balance with WEB. You can use this credit to pay your electricity bill as long as there is sufficient credit available.
The Public Entity of Bonaire helps lower-income households by providing a subsidy for their electricity bills. If your application is approved, an amount of $1,300 will be credited to your account with WEB. This amount will be used each month to pay (part of) your electricity bill.
When can you apply for this?
You are eligible if you:
- are registered as a resident of Bonaire;
- earn less than the maximum income limit applicable to your household type (see income table);
- legally reside in Bonaire (for at least 5 consecutive years);
- have not yet received an energy allowance.
Required documents
- Sédula (identity card)
- Electricity bill from WEB or proof of purchase from Pagabon
- Proof of income, such as:
- Pay stubs or bank statements (last 3 months)
- Chamber of Commerce extract (if self-employed)
- Pension statement or disability benefits statement
- Letter from the SZW Unit if you receive public assistance
- Proof of family relationship (if living in a shared household): birth certificate or family register
- Rental agreement, if you rent and the electricity bill is not in your name
