Do you need to prove that the signature on a document is truly yours? If so, you can have it officially certified at the Civil Affairs Department. This is called signature certification.
What does this product or service mean?
Certification only proves that your signature is genuine. It says nothing about the content of the document.
At the Civil Affairs Department, you’ll sign the document while a staff member observes. The staff member will check your ID and verify that the signature matches. If everything is in order, your document will be stamped. This officially certifies your signature. The official will then confirm that the signature on the document is truly yours.
When can you apply for this?
Please bring the following to your appointment:
- The document you wish to sign.
- Your identification (passport, sédula, or driver’s license).
How do you apply for this?
- Make an appointment online.
- Go to the Civil Affairs Office at the time of your appointment with your ID and the document.
- Sign the document in the presence of a staff member.
