The Lietenant Governor of Bonaire has decided to close a property on Kaya Maria for a period of six months. The measure was taken after, among other things, a significant quantity of narcotics was found on the property and in the two residences located there.

The closure means that for six months, no one is permitted to enter the property or the residences. This decision puts an end to the situation that led to a disturbance of public order and prevents a recurrence.

The Lietenant Governor is authorized to take action under Article 14a of the Opium Act of 1960 when narcotics intended for sale, delivery, or distribution are found on a property or in a building. The closure of a property is an administrative measure and not a punishment. The purpose of the measure is to restore public order and to protect the safety and livability of the surrounding area.

The closure takes effect on October 23, 2026, and remains in effect until April 23, 2027. During this period, it is prohibited to enter the property and the residences.
