On Thursday, October 1, the Directorate of Spatial Planning and Development (R&O) held a meeting with architects, architectural drafters, and other professionals regarding Bonaire’s building codes. R&O is working on updating these codes and wanted to hear about the questions and challenges professionals encounter in practice.
During a previous information session, participants indicated a need for greater clarity regarding the building codes. For this reason, R&O organized a separate meeting on this topic. Participants were able to ask questions, discuss examples from their work, and identify which regulations they believe require clarification or revision.
R&O will take the questions and points raised into account as it continues to update the building codes. The management is also exploring how it can present information about construction and permits more clearly. R&O will continue to engage in dialogue with professionals in the field on this matter.
