Governor John Soliano expresses his condolences on behalf of the Public Entity of Bonaire to the population of Venezuela, which has been struck by the devastating earthquake.

"Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by this disaster. Bonaire and Venezuela are neighbors in the Caribbean and have been connected for generations through family ties, cultural relationships, and personal contacts. Many residents of Bonaire are living in uncertainty regarding family and friends in Venezuela. Precisely for this reason, this tragedy is also deeply felt on Bonaire," stated Governor Soliano.

The Governor is maintaining close contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding this matter. Within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, developments are being closely monitored, close contact is being maintained with the Venezuelan authorities, and humanitarian support is being provided where necessary.

"We wish all aid workers much strength in their valuable work and hope that those who are missing be found as soon as possible. On behalf of Bonaire, I would like to express my support and solidarity with the people of Venezuela and with the Venezuelan community on Bonaire. I wish all those affected much strength, courage, and resilience in this difficult period."

Residents of Bonaire who are currently in Venezuela and require consular assistance are advised to contact the Dutch Embassy in Caracas or the 24/7 BZ contact center via www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl.

The Public Entity of Bonaire continues to monitor developments closely. Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragedy.
