Have you purchased food with an incorrect label? Or have you seen products in a store with an incorrect or incomplete label? If so, you can report this to the Supervision and Enforcement Directorate. By doing so, you’ll help improve food safety on Bonaire.
What does this product or service mean?
An incorrect or incomplete food label can pose a risk to your health. Therefore, please report this to the Directorate of Supervision and Enforcement.
Incorrect food labeling means that required information is not properly displayed on the label. This may include, for example:
- ingredients
- allergens
- expiration date
- product origin
- nutritional information
An incorrect label may be unclear or misleading. This can pose risks to consumer health.
According to the “Food Labeling Decree (BES),” a label must include, among other things, the following information:
- a list of ingredients
- the quantity of an ingredient or group of ingredients
- the net quantity
- the best-by date or use-by date
- information on storage and use
- details of the manufacturer and importer
- the place of origin
- the alcohol content (if applicable)
- the production batch
- a statement indicating whether packaging gas was used
How do you apply for this?
You can submit your report via email to the Supervision and Enforcement Directorate: bisami_th@bonairegov.com
In your report, describe as clearly as possible:
- which product is involved
- where you purchased the product
- what is incorrect on the label
The Supervision and Enforcement Directorate can then conduct an investigation.

The BES Personal Data Protection Act specifies how the Public Entity of Bonaire must do this.

- They record and process your data securely, confidentially, and with care.
- Your data will only be used for the application or report, or for something directly related to it.
- Your data will not be retained longer than necessary for the application or report.
- Other organizations will only receive your data if required by law.
- You may ask how your data is being used and what happens to it.
