On Wednesday, October 7, Executive member Dennis Martinus met with Aruba’s Prime Minister Mike Eman to discuss various issues affecting Bonaire and Aruba. Waste management and opportunities for cooperation between the islands were a key part of the discussion.

Bonaire and Aruba both face challenges in the area of waste collection and processing. During the meeting, they shared their experiences and discussed potential collaboration on sustainable waste processing and recycling. Among other things, they explored ways to process waste into a sustainable end product that could also have economic value.

“Bonaire and Aruba are sister islands and face many similar challenges. That is precisely why it is valuable to learn from one another, share knowledge, and work together to find solutions that will help our islands move forward. We want to continue strengthening that cooperation and bond,” said Executive member Martinus.

In the coming period, they will explore where Bonaire and Aruba can further exchange knowledge and experiences and where cooperation is possible.
