Opening a Food Truck

Would you like to sell food from a food truck on Bonaire? If so, you must first obtain permission from the Public Entity of Bonaire. This ensures that you operate safely and in compliance with the rules.

What does this product or service mean?

What should you pay attention to?

You cannot simply park a food truck anywhere and sell food and/or drinks. You need permission to do so.

A food truck is a vehicle that you can move around and in which you prepare and sell food.
The food is intended to be consumed elsewhere and not on the spot.

When can you apply for this?

You must meet the following requirements, among others:

  • You have a valid permit
  • You comply with hygiene regulations
  • Your food truck is safe and clean
  • You operate only in locations where this is permitted

How do you apply for this?

You apply for a permit from the Public Entity of Bonaire.
In your application, you must specify, among other things:

  • where you intend to park the food truck
  • what food you sell
  • how you ensure hygiene and safety

After you submit your application, the OLB will verify that you comply with the rules.

How long does it take?

Processing your application usually takes a few weeks.
This depends on your application and the inspections required.

The BES Personal Data Protection Act specifies how the Public Entity of Bonaire must do this.

The most important rules are:

  • They record and process your data securely, confidentially, and with care
  • Your data will only be used for the application or report, or for something directly related to it.
  • Your data will not be retained longer than necessary for the application or report.
  • Other organizations will only receive your data if required by law.
  • You may ask how your data is being used and what happens to it.
