The meeting focused on the Housing Deal.

On Sunday, September 27, a meeting was held in The Hague with young people from Bonaire to discuss their housing needs and the development of new residential areas on Bonaire. The Housing Deal was the main focus of the meeting. Executive Member Dennis Martinus was present and spoke with the young people about this topic.

The Housing Deal includes agreements to build more homes on Bonaire and develop new residential areas. Among other things, the young people received information about the plans for Nieuw Nikiboko and Dawari.

The young people mainly had questions about affordability and how prospective tenants will be eligible for housing in the future. Sustainability and energy-efficient living were also discussed. The young people’s questions and concerns will be taken into account in further discussions about the Housing Deal. Some of these topics were also discussed on September 28 with the Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning (VRO).

In the coming period, more meetings about the Housing Deal will also be organized on Bonaire. This will give more residents the opportunity to learn more about the plans, ask questions, and share their ideas.
